Donald Trump – An Obituary

Donald John Trump, born, unfortunately.

Died, not soon enough.

Failed businessman.

Failed tv show host.

Failed President of the United States.

Failed husband.

Failed father.

Failed human being.

45th and 47th President of the United States of America.

President of the de facto 47th Oblast of the Russian Federation.

It has been suggested that he is a Russian agent – his supporters deny this, but have trouble answering the question “If he was a Russian agent, what would he do differently?”

I like to take a slightly different approach.

Imagine if Mike Myers was to write and star in a movie about a corrupt and self-serving US President, who may or may not be a Russian agent.

What would he do differently, to show how venal and corrupt this President was?

And how many of the Presidents entourage would he play as buffoonish boors?

(The movie would be just as crap as the Austin Powers series, but other people seem to like them, and will have some idea what I mean by this analogy.)

Everything about his second term as President is about either Trump enriching himself and his backers, or politically aiding much stronger world leaders, particularly Putin and Xi, as well as Netanyahu.

To listen to Americans (and especially the most MAGA of Republicans), one would think that America is all about supporting the under-dog, helping those who are fighting for freedom from oppressive regimes, yet look at who he backs – Netanyahu, over his wars against the Palestinians in The West Bank and Gaza, as well as wars against Lebanon.

-Putin, whose illegal occupation of Ukraine is now in its 12th year.

-Xi, whose latest purges seem tightly aimed at maintaining his position and eliminating rivals rather than stamping out corruption as he claims, while still maintaining a vice-like grip on the lives of ordinary Chinese.

 – Kim Jong-Un, whose tenacious grip on North Korea, and associated human rights violations of its population, has seen him personally sanctioned by multiple countries, with a potential case pending at the International Criminal Court.

Instead, Trump is spending more time trying to pick fights with American allies, including Canada, Mexico, Denmark, and the rest of the EU, while simultaneously illegally invading parts of South America, and refusing to put an end to the war in Ukraine – something he promised to do within 24 hours of taking control of the US government.

Not to mention another campaign promise – releasing the Epstein Files, something which he has spent almost 2 years actively blocking.

His accomplishments mostly involve diminishing the status of the United States around the globe, but mostly with it’s allies, overseeing one of the highest increases in the cost of living in living memory for everyday people, and taking responsibility for one of the highest Stock Markets in history – even though that latter is due to maybe 5 companies, all of whom are part of a bubble that is about to implode, taking down the rest of the economy with it, with the rest of the market being in the middle of a serious down-turn.

The only people who are seeing any positive gains from his government are those who are already fabulously wealthy and powerful, who seem to be grasping for ever-more money and power, while the average American is slowly drowning in financial problems.

And it’s not just Americans – globally, prices are rising while stability is falling thanks to his blundering into all manner of self-created problems, and we will all feel it when this house of cards finally collapses.

Bigots and haters globally feel empowered to indulge their worst impulses against those with less power than themselves because of his actions and those of his acolytes and enablers, while any criticism of those people is greeted with a chorus of derogatory remarks and threats.

And the worst bit?
While many long for a final solution to “The Trump Problem”, one which is increasingly likely due to his poor health and failing mental capacity, it is obvious that his replacement will be worse – much worse – unless the American public can successfully vote in new Houses of Congress in the next couple of weeks.

And no, it won’t be JD Vance – instead it will be someone who is actually competent at bringing in more, and more extreme, policies of the type championed by Trump, instead of someone stumbling through these policies while being egged on by the worst people you can imagine being stuck in a lift with.

The UK is generally regarded as being 5 years behind the US in policy – we are due a General Election in slightly less than 4 years, and the worry is that, without Trump being stopped, soon, his fans and acolytes over here will up-end everything, aided and abetted by the increasingly Right-Wing 2 main Parties over here.
